Japanese Woman

Wonder what she is looking at? I love the Japanese Kimonos, their hairstyles and the beautiful fans.I hear one cannot wear this attire unassisted, even the Japanese.
I have been fascinated with them ever since I saw the song "sayonara!sayonara!",a Hindi movie song of the 70's.Even as an adult it still fascinates me and when my teacher gave me traces of Japanese women ,I just had do one, actually I painted two.My first glass painting I ever painted was that of a Japanese woman, did not turn out very well ,but was my start and after a few years I paintied this one.I was impressed with how colourful the kimono turned out.I hope you like her just as much as I do.And if ever she tells you what she is looking at ,do let me know!!

Glorious Glories

If I ever speak to this painting ,I would ask "Glorious, glowing glories on my wall, who is the fairest of them all?"
When I was painting the Glories ,I heard about a new painting technique from my cousin,Sailu and wanted to use it as quickly as possible ,so decided to use it in this one.The technique is called "Sponging" which gives the golden glow around these Glorious Glories.

Shimmer and Shine

Another one from my "Crystal Glass" collection, painted in 2006 while in India.I like this technique becos the crystals add shimmer and shine to the paintings. This technique requires one to use glass crystals to fill in the coloring area and then color in..

A "window" in my living room

It has been a few months since I have painted on glass with so many other things going on .....And this one was the last I painted.Worked a little harder on it as I painted on the frame too, which I normally dont. For this I must thank my husband who never misses to point out something that is undermining the painting. If he had not said that "the painting would look better without the frame",I would not have thought about making the frame better for the painting.I had some mirror mosaics and stencils which I put together to make the frame look a li'l more jazzy.Worked very well didn't it?

Bouquet of Tulips!!!

What can I say ?I love flowers and more so Tulips.I love them for they bring warmth during the chilly winter. This painting was kind of a challenge from my husband ,who wanted me to make it as close to a real bouquet.I tried my best, did my research and chose these colors, it was kind of difficult to choose the shades as tulips come in so many different colors and combos.Next time I try out to paint a Tulip(which I most definitely will) I will try yellow and red.

Glass Painting on a mirror

Happy Dasera to all !!!
This is a special Dasera for me because it is the first we are celebrating at our new house and also that my in-laws are here on their first visit. These 2 days have been hectic , hence this late night post.
Well, wanted to share another one of my paintings. This painting technique is called crystal glass painting where we fill glass pieces first and then paint them.It is a little tedious when filling in the crystals ,but filling the color is much easier as there is not much shading and mixing to be done. This can be done on glass surface or on mirror and this one was done on a mirror.

Tulips

I paint a lot of flowers and tulip is one of my favourite. This is my first floral painting and turned out beautifully.I specifically like the two-toned boundary.

Tile Painting

It is navratri now and what better a time to post about "Durga Maata" I painted previous Navratri.I had wanted to experiment with a new surface, voila! thus emerged "Durga Maata" on a ceramic tile.Decorated with kundans(acrylic rhinestones) and outlined with babmboo sticks and gold shaded beads. Now,She sits on top of the kitchen cabinet. She always brings a sense of pride in me when I look at Her.

Jai Ganesh - Eliminator of Obstacles

"Shri Ganesha" is close to my heart as it was the first one I painted after coming to the US.
